Frozen Watermelon Strawberry Margaritas – Recipe!

Frozen treats and drinks are truly a thing of the summer and with watermelon so readily available right now, I thought a good watermelon cocktail would be nice on a warm summer night.  My frozen watermelon strawberry margaritas will not only cool you down, but pleasantly moderate your mood into a weekend state of mind.  Blending cold watermelon cubes with fresh strawberries and a little maple syrup is pretty much all this frothy drink requires before it hits your glass in all its glory.

I recommend cubing your watermelon and storing it in an airtight container for a few hours before the mixing begins.  You can always do this step a day or two before, that way you’re ready when friends arrive to blend a batch of these scrumptious drinks.  There’s nothing like a frozen cocktail during the summer months made with seasonal fruit.  Cheers!

Ingredients

2 cups frozen watermelon, cubed

1/2 pint fresh strawberries

2 tablespoons maple syrup, more if not sweet enough

5 ounces good tequila

summer flowers for garnish, optional

(Serves 2 Large or 4 Small)

To Prepare:

  1. In a blender, add frozen watermelon cubes, strawberries, maple syrup and 2/3 cup cold water.
  2. Puree until chunky, remove lid and stir.  Puree until smooth.
  3. Add tequila and puree until frothy.  Pour into chilled glasses.  Garnish with fresh flowers.  Enjoy!
